1987 Samurai Rock Crawler

This is a great example of the modifications people can do to turn these Samurai’s in to true offroad warriors.

This Samurai now rides on a Diamond front axle with a Toyota center section, and a Toyota Tacoma rear axle. Both have 5.29 gears and spools permanently locking the axles. Combine that with a Toyota 5-speed manual transmission, dual Toyota transfer cases, and Marlin Crawler 4.7 gears, and you end up with an impressive 459.1 craw ratio.

The Samurai gets it’s power from a 1995 Suzuki Sidekick 1.6L engine. With that much gearing, the 1.6L has no problems turning the 39″ Super Swamper TSL’s, and the 4-link suspension helps it crawl over boulders.

Writing an article about all of the modifications would turn in to a novel, so we’ll just list all of the modifications along with numerous photos, so you can see it in action.
